FOIDEL CREEK MINE
^0" ENTRY VENTILATION SHAFT CONSTRUCTION
75.220 ROOF CONTROL PLAN ADDENDUM
General Description:
The "0" Entry shaft will be constructed by raise
foot diameter hole and then slashing to 18-foot
Following the bore and slashing, the shaft will
lined to a finished inside diameter of 16-feet.
will be located in the "0" Entry of Crosscut # 1,
Mains.
Exploration•
boring a 5-
diameter.
be concrete
The shaft
.n the North
The shaft bottom area was developed with a continuous miner as
part of the mine development and supported with fully grouted
resin 6-foot roof bolts on a 5-foot pattern. Once the raise
bore pilot hole penetrates the mine and the raise bore bit is
installed, one or two permanent roof bolts may need to be
removed. If this is done, timbers will be placed around the
circtunference of the raise bore bit to form a new 5-foot
pattern of remaining primary bolts and timbers set. Then, the
one or two primary roof bolts will be removed. The removal of
the timbers will be by remote means from supported roof
immediately before iaise boring begins.
Shaft Excavation:
Upon completion of the 5-foot diameter raise bore hole, the
borehole shall be plugged with a metal cage attachment, that
provides fall protection but will not close off ventilation,
to the work deck. The borehole shall remain plugged at all
times except when blasting. Approximately 18-feet diameter
will be shot to the center borehole using controlled blasting
with permissible powder. All blasting will be done in
accordance with requirements of 30 CFR Part 75.1300 or as
specified in approval to utilize a non-permissible shot firer
unit. The number of holes loaded and shot will be limited to
the approved quantity of the blasting machine. After blasting
'the borehole, the plug shall be set in place in the borehole
via the work deck. The shot material will be mucked into the
shaft by air lances with the employees standing on the lower
work deck, which has handrails installed around the work deck.
1
APPRO`~EO c~r~s & H [~~ip,R 2L.'95
