The Pikes Peak Ranger
District has been in several meetings with Castle Concrete over the last year or so discussing the
possibility of the layback at Pikeview onto National Forest System lands. The concept has made
it through our first level of screening for projects which would occur on public lands. We are
currently requiring Castle Concrete to provide us with additional information which will be used
to reach a decision on whether or not to approve the project. This process will eventually result
in the preparation of an Environmental Assessment which will look a[ alternatives to the
proposal and disclose the impacts associated with each alternative. We expect that this process
could take up to a year or so to complete.
Tim Grantham is the District contact for this project. If you require any additional information
or have any questions, please feel free to contact Tim at his direct number, 719-477-4207.
Sincerely,
W~~i~ / '~f~/'
WILLIAM R.
