Workplace <br />injuries would be similaz to those experienced in the heavy construction and oil and gas <br />' industries, and would be limited to American Soda employees and contractors. Methane gas is <br />not expected to occur at substantial levels, but a methane venting system would be incorporated <br />' into the piping system. Impacts would be the same for the Proposed Action and Accelerated <br />Development Altemative. <br />' No Action Alternative <br />Potential short-term, minor effects would include deer/vehicle collisions, hazardous material <br />' spills, and employee health and safety effects during closure of the test mine facility. The <br />pipeline would not be constructed and therefore, no cultural surveys would be performed and <br />additional knowledge of the azea would not be gained. Socioeconomic benefits of employment, <br />' earnings, tax revenues, and royalties would not be realized.
