Kremmling
Resources Area. 1116 park Ave. P.O. Box 68. Kremmling. CO 80459
SUMMARY AND RESOLUTION OF INTERACTION: Mr. Perry inquired if the contour
furrows at the Pit 1 area of the Marr Mine are planned to be bladed down after vegetation
establishment. I told him I believed that they were approved to remain, and fill in with time.
He said that BLM has a problem with that. He had understood that they were a part of a
"temporary stabilization plan" as per a July 1994 document. BLM would like to see the
furrows bladed out after vegetation is reestablished. perhaps after 2-3 years. Then re-seed the
strips between the furrows. I asked him about feasibility of blading out this kind of a
structure on steep slopes and he thought awide-track dozer would be sufficient to blade
these structures out. I discussed with him that the Division would want the furrows to remain
until vegetation was established. and this Fall will be the initial seeding of the Pit 1 area. He
does not have a problem with furrows as long as they are temporary in nature. He did not
provide any technical reasons why they could not remain as permanent. He also stated that
he would be willing to allow additional erosion on the slope in lieu of leaving the furrows. I
told him [would look into this and how DMG would need to go about getting the operator to
hanee these furrows to "temporary". I also told him that it mieht necessitate a letter from
him. I will follow up on this. r~ / ,~ it
m:\coal\shart\forrns\5720 r
Gr.` 'f"Kt S/'i !rr% i~VY; ' C ~ SC°c"JOB-~!
