Curry <br />Tri County Gravel <br />3569 J-i5 Drive <br />Hotchkiss, CO 81}19 <br />5303) 872-3545 <br />LOCATION: The project site is located in the North Fork Gunison <br />River near the Town of Hotchkiss, within Section '19, Township 14 <br />South, Range 92 West, Delta County, Colorado. <br />PURPOSE: The applicant proposes to construct three alluvial <br />dikes to facilitate the removal of alluvial material for gravel <br />sale. <br />PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The applicant proposes to discharge <br />appproximately 450 cubic yards of alluvial material 1150 <br />cubic yards per dike) for the construction of three dikes, each <br />approximately 250-feet in length, in the North Fork Gunnison <br />River. The dikes would be removed before high water runoff each <br />spring and reconstructed afterwards. If a Department of the Army <br />permit were issued, it would be for a maximum of five years. <br />AREA DESCRIPTION: The project site is located on the eastern <br />side of the river within a riparian corridor historically <br />dominated by cottonwood. Surrounding land use is characterized <br />by agricultural, light industry, and rural residences. The <br />project site has been disturbed by gravel extraction and was <br />previously authorized by Department of the Army Permit Number <br />8123. <br />
