Curry Tri County Gravel 3569 J-i5 Drive Hotchkiss, CO 81}19 5303) 872-3545 LOCATION: The project site is located in the North Fork Gunison River near the Town of Hotchkiss, within Section '19, Township 14 South, Range 92 West, Delta County, Colorado. PURPOSE: The applicant proposes to construct three alluvial dikes to facilitate the removal of alluvial material for gravel sale. PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The applicant proposes to discharge appproximately 450 cubic yards of alluvial material 1150 cubic yards per dike) for the construction of three dikes, each approximately 250-feet in length, in the North Fork Gunnison River. The dikes would be removed before high water runoff each spring and reconstructed afterwards. If a Department of the Army permit were issued, it would be for a maximum of five years. AREA DESCRIPTION: The project site is located on the eastern side of the river within a riparian corridor historically dominated by cottonwood. Surrounding land use is characterized by agricultural, light industry, and rural residences. The project site has been disturbed by gravel extraction and was previously authorized by Department of the Army Permit Number 8123.
