FINDING OF NO SIGNIFICANT IMPACT <br />• Eagle Mines No. 5 and No. 6 Mine <br />Empire Energy Corporation <br />September 1987 <br />The Environmental Assessment (EA) prepared by the Office of Surface Mining <br />Reclamation and Enforcement (OSMRE) and the Decision and Findings of <br />Compliance prepared by the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Division (MLRD) <br />and preceding this finding of no significant impact identify certain <br />environmental impacts that would result from the Federal approval of the <br />Eagle Mines No. 5 and No. 6 mine mining plan, as modified, for Federal leases <br />C-30656, D-056298, and C-0126480. The permit application package, submitted <br />by Empire Energy Corporation to the State under its approved State program, <br />proposes underground mining operations in a permit area of 6,840 acres, of <br />which approximately 1,100 acres are in the proposed mining plan approval area. <br />The Eagle mines mining area has been the subject of several in-depth <br />environmental assessments, environmental impact statements, and professional <br />papers.
