Planning diviAon 00 <br /> p.o. box 471 i=.th n,ul spruce rtreet boulder, colorodo 80306 441-3930 <br /> MEMORANDUM <br /> TO: Boulder County Planning Commission edwordarepe <br /> land uro dcpurcmer(duccta <br /> FROM: Boulder County Planning Staff a <br /> DATE: December 16,1981 <br /> Staff Recommendation <br /> Condition #2, Docket #SU-81-10, Deepe Farm Pit, Noise Level Standard and <br /> Monitoring <br /> Staff recommends that the Planning Commission recommend to the Board of County <br /> Commissioners the following as condition #2: <br /> 2) That the maximum allowable standard for noise from activities on the mining <br /> site is Le = 53dBA, which is to be measured and calculated according to the <br /> accepted standards of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). A <br /> monitoring program is to be conducted by a professional acoustics consultant <br /> at the applicant' s expense. The monitoring site is to be located immediately <br /> behind the property known as 1230 Chambers Drive. The monitoring procedure <br /> is to be as proposed on page 4 of the December 2, 1981 letter from <br /> Charles M. Salter Associates. Additional monitoring as spot checks and <br /> in response to any complaints will be done by County staff with the <br /> assistance of qualified City of Boulder or Boulder County personnel . Initial <br /> scraping operations for the removal of topsoil or overburden in a new <br /> mining area will be exempt from the noise level standard, subject to the <br /> condition that the applicants conduct the operations as efficiently as <br /> possible to minimize the lengths of time that these operations are being <br /> conducted. <br /> GRG/cld <br />
