Dept. of Natural Resources
1313 Sherman Street, Room 423
Denver, CO 80203
Re: Flatiron Sand and Gravel Company Deepe Farm Pit, Sections 9 & 16,
T1S, R70W
Dear Mr. James :
Please find enclosed a copy of the Boulder County Commissioners' conditional
approval action on Boulder County Special Use Docket #SU-81-10, the Deepe
Farm Pit. Also enclosed are copies of staff recommendations to the
Boulder County Planning Commission dated December 11, 1981 and December 16,
1981, which hopefully will help to illustrate the rationale behind the
conditions. Please note that the final conditions approved by the County
Commissioners are revised from the original conditions recommended by
staff and that the conditions approved by the County Commissioners control .
The Boulder County Planning Division staff feels that the conditions of
approval represent the results of a lengthy but productive and successful
local public hearing process. It is felt that the local process has been
very beneficial to both the Flatiron Sand and Gravel Company and concerned
residents of the area surrounding the proposed mining operation. Flatiron
has received approval of a mining operation with what are felt to be
reasonable restrictions on the operation and the area residents have received
assurance that the operation will be conducted so as not to have unreasonably
adverse impacts on their quality of life.
It would be sincerely appreciated if the Mined Land Reclamation Board and
staff would consider these conditions in reviewing the application before
them and recognize that the twenty (20) conditions are an extremely im-
portant and integral part of the local government approval required for the
Deepe Farm Pit. Thank you in advance for your consideration.
If you should have any questions or require additional information, please
feel free to contact me at the Planning Office.
Very truly yours,
Garcodell ,
Operational Planner
GRG/cld
Encls.
