<br />iii iiiiuiiiiiu iii <br />COLOWYO COAL COMPANY L'.P. <br />MINE HAZARD AVOIDANCE PROCEDURES <br />HEALTH AND SAFETY STANDARDS <br />SAFETY RULES AND SAFE WORK PROCEDURES. <br />Prohibited Items and Substances: The following items are prohibited on Colowyo Mine property and <br />possession of such items will result in expulsion from the minesite: <br />• Alcoholic beverages and/or illegal drugs <br />• Explosives of any kind, firearms, and other weapons <br />• Unauthorized company property <br />• Pets, in or out of the vehicle <br />• Any other items that judged to be harmful, and therefore, prohibited <br />Any visitor suspected of being under the influence of intoxicants or drugs will be denied access to the site. <br />Each visitor is subject to inspection of personal property andlor vehicles once entered onto the minesite. <br />The employees of Colowyo Coal Company are committed to the safety of themselves, visitors and <br />contractors working here. As a person entering the site, you are expected to share this commitment. <br />This material was developed to ensure each person entering Colowyo Mine is aware of the common <br />hazards they are likely to encounter here. Additionally, each person entering the mine is required to <br />adhere to all federal, state and company health, safety and environmental standards. Failure to comply <br />will result in expulsion from the mine site. <br />_ ~nlp b.~~;~,~o in~r.all ac^!dents are preventable and you are expected to act accordingly. If a joh rannot.he _~_.._ _~ <br />done safely, it is not worth doing at all. <br />Everyone entering or leaving the mine site is required to stop at the Security Building. No one is <br />allowed on site without first receiving appropriate training. Training requirements will be dictated by the <br />nature of the work being performed. <br />GENERAL SAFETY GUIDELINES <br />HAZARD RECOGNITION AND AVOIDANCE <br />RESPIRATORY DEVICES <br />MANDATORY HEALTH AND SAFETY STANDARDS <br />LOCKOUT PROCEDURES <br />WELDING AND CUTTING HAZARDS <br />The following rules are to be adhered to at all times and in all areas at Colowyo. In addition to these <br />regulations, you must also follow guidelines specific to each area of the mine. These guidelines are in <br />addition to state and federal regulations concerning mine safety, health and environmental compliance. <br />Every employee, contractor and visitor at Colowyo is responsible for their own safety. Additionally, <br />everyone must be watchful to help protect the safety of co-workers. <br />1. Horseplay will not be tolerated. <br />2. Safety glasses, hardhats and steel toe shoes must be worn in all areas, at all times. These items <br />are not required in mine offices or parking lots when traveling to mine offices. You may remove <br />your hardhai when traveling in vehicles, but safety glasses must be worn. <br />4. Whenever you are performing an operation that produces sparks or slag, you must wear a face <br />
