We are writing to let you know of our concerns.
The people who live near the Peabody Coal site northwest of Nucla say there
is a lot of dust and noise pol.ution from the blasting that goes on. Some say
they have had some damage done to their structures. We will be within a mile
of the area they will be mining so we are concerned.
At the present time the area west of us is farm land and pasture. It is
green, relatively flat, productive and very attractive. We certainly do hope
that there will be regulations and enforcement imposed on Peabody Coal Company
to return the area to the way it is now and not left as nptural habitat as
the area northwest of town has been reclaimed.
We understand you will be conducting meetings in the area to resolve
any questions residents may have. l•Je are very interested in attending such
meetings and would like to know when and where they will be held.
We are interested in our area providing jobs for people as we are quite
depressed here. lie are however interested in maintaining a nice place to
live for the people who have their homes and lives here. lle want to remain
proud of our community. Surely there is a medium ground where both can be
accomplished.
Sincerely,
~- Paul Woods (//Joanne Woods
