999
0W
FLATIRON
SAND AND GRAVEL COMPANY
POST OFFICE BOX 229, BOULDER, COLORADO 80306 • PHONE : (303) 444-2151
April 13 , 1982
Mr. Brad Janes , Reclamation Specialist
Mined Land Reclamation APR 1 51982
1313 Sherman St. , Room 423
Denver, CO 80203 IVINED LA0D HL-GLIAN11,Ilt,lU
Colo. Dept. of iVatura! Resoerces
Dear Brad:
You called today to inquire about item 3 , Reclamation, in my
April 9 letter to you. I will be glad to elaborate on my reply.
As I wrote, Boulder County requirements preclude any great
extent of reclamation at Deepe Farm Pit for the first seven
years . This was one result of the county hearing process which
was a disappointment to me personally. Reclamation possibilities
are limited because the county has specified that strippings from
stage 1 be used as a noise buffer at that stage. As you observed,
there is little overburden on stage 2 and thus little material
which could be used for shaping the lake there. Since mining
activity is limited to two stages , overburden from successive
stages is not available under the current permitting conditions
for creating land forms at stage 2. Stage 1 , of course, is the
operation ' s area and will not be reclaimed until mining is
completed.
Please let me know if you need further information about the
application.
Sincerely ,
(Mrs. ) Margaret Winter
Certified Mail #P22 1047961
