See Map No. 7 in the permit.
Water has been seeping from an ancient land slide area thousands of years before
Sun Coal began operations on the Eilts' ranch. Forest service aerial photographs
9-18-38 show the slides. Water has collected in the low area since the haul road
was built in 1977. There are at least three separate seeps coming from the slide
area adjacent to and south of the crusher pit. The accumulation of standing water
from the landslide seeps was present before the crusher well was drilled.
On May 20, 1987, Deckler with MLRD wrote a letter to Eilts giving him
permission to remove an irrigation ditch near the old Yampa sediment pond.
Please see if this letter is in your files.
If you have other questions, please call.
Sincerely,
,~ fir/
Bryan J.
