Long
Division Dueclo~
On November 8, 1993, the Division received a letter, dated
November 5, 1993, from the Colorado Division of Wildlife. The
letter was prompted by the permit renewal for the two mines
referenced above. This letter was faxed to Basin Resources by
this Division on November 24, 1993, with a hard copy sent on
December 6, 1993.
In this letter, DOw recommended that an aquatic sampling program
be implemented every two or three years along that portion of the
Purgatoire River that passes through Hasin's mine property. In
January of 1994 I talked with Dave Lovell, Wildlife Biologist for
DOW. He explained that DOW would like to see one of three
actions taken: 1) Basin Resources would implement the aquatic
sampling program, using established protocol and sending the
results to DOW, or 2) allow DOW to perform the sampling program,
with Basin giving permission for DOW to have access to the
Purgatoire River from Basin's land or 3) have Basin state in
writing that Basin does not wish to have any aquatic sampling
program.
This Division would like Basin Resources to seriously consider
the three options presented in this letter, and to write back to
us explaining the company's position in this matter.
