As you requested, enclosed is the current
mining-and-reclamation plan and permit for the operation and some commentazy regazding the
mining operation compliance with their mining-and-reclamation plan.
This inspector conducted an inspection of the Braley Pit, M-1980-020, on December 18, 2001 and
found the operation to be in compliance with the requirements of their permit. There appears to have
been approximately 10 acres of concurrent backfill/grading and topsoiling in preparation for
revegetation. This azea abuts the Highline Canal along the eastern boundazy of the property. The
operator has been in contact with the NRCS regazding the appropriate time to revegetate these areas.
The balance of the pit appeazed to be well graded to reduce erosion, and it is configured to prevent
sediment from exiting the pit. Fuel and oil storage was well conducted with secondary containment.
A bond calculation was performed which indicated that the bond of $68,250.00 is adequate for the
operation at this time.
Some history of the mining operation is summarized as follows:
• November 28, 1979, M-1979-179 was permitted for 9.75 acres as a limited impact 1 lOc permit,
• July l5, 1980, M-1979-179 was included into permit M-1980-020 as a 112c permit and the
acreage was increased to 24.2 acres,
• On October 29, 1981, M-1980-020 acreage was increased to 37.9 acres,
• On September 25, 1986, M-1980-020 acreage was increased to 82.9 acres,
• On August 7, 1995, M-1980-020 was revised to allow stockpiling of concrete and asphalt
• On January 17, 1997 a succession of operators from Braley Sand and Gravel to ARS Sand and
Gravel was approved.
