This is probably a
resource tonnage rather than a minable reserve figure and includes the
pillars that must be left to protect the Arco workings oa the upper coal
beds. An earlier study by this office indicates that about 389,000 Cons of
minable coal will be left when Bear "fining Company moves out in June 1982.
Arco contends that they will be able to mine the remaining coal in [he
future. There is no mention of C-Bed mining in the Arco application to mine
F Bed. However, the plan shows that the Bear East Portal is to be maintained,
and we have a letter stating that Arco will submit a mine plan in the future
for finishing C-Bed extraction.
Copies of three letters discussing [he subject are enclosed. This includes
a letter from Arco dated Nay 29, 1981, which states: "At some time in the
future the 389,000 tons of remaining recoverable coal...will be recovered by
mining methods appropriate at that Euture time..."
r
William Wentworth
Enclosures (3)
•~A to
~~ MA,Y )o
~,;i~ ~'~~ i~~ ~1i i~
