Dept. of P!atural Resources <br />This letter should be considered Colorado Coal Mining <br />Company's Notice of Temporary Cessation for the Colorado Coal <br />Mine No. 1. Regulation 4.30.1 "Cessation of Operations - <br />Temporary" are addressed as follows: <br />4.30.1 <br />(1) Each person who conducts surface or underground mining <br />activities shall effectively support and maintain all <br />surface access openings to underground operations, and <br />secure surface facilities in areas in which there are no <br />current operations, but operations are to be resumed <br />under an approved permit. Temporary abandonment shall <br />not relieve a person of the obligation to comply with <br />- any provisions of the approved permit. <br />(2) Before temporary cessation of mining and reclamation <br />operations for a period of 30 days or more, or as it is <br />known that a temporary cessation will extend beyond 30 <br />days, each person who conducts surface or underground <br />mining activities shall submit to the Division a Notice <br />of Intention to Cease or Abandon Operations. This <br />notice shall include a statement of: <br />(a) The exact number of surface acres and the <br />horizontal and vertical extent of subsurface strata <br />which have been affected in the permit area prior <br />to cessation or abandonment; <br />Enclosed is a map entitled "Existing Test Pit Dated <br />July 1984" which shows the area or surface <br />disturbance. Total surface acres distributed is~e7.W9. <br />total vertical extent of mining is approximately 40 <br />to 60 feet below surface elevation in the area <br />labeled Pit. The Cameron and Lennox seams were <br />mined. <br />(b) The extent and kind or reclamation of surface area <br />which will have been accomplished through the date <br />of cessation or abandonment; <br />105 East Kiowa.
