. GOLD HILL HIGHWALL
Gold Hill is the highest elevation in the mine and the most visible. Elevations range from 6935'
to 7250'. The exposed footwall is evident along much of the highwall, as past veneer removal
operations have exposed the rolling, black to dark grey limestone bed underlying the gypsum
deposits oldest evaporate bed #5. Two main areas of concern will be addressed in this area, 1)
the veneer remaining on the 55 degree slope, and 2), the mine benches remaining along the
lower reaches of Gold Hill. The veneer will have to be removed via hand placement of
explosives by personnel on ropes, hand barring, and crane removal. The Mine benches will be
removed via drilling and blasting, and bulldozer work to result in rock talus slopes of no steeper
than 1:1.
1) Sections 1500 through 2500, gypsum veneer volume estimates:
Section 1500
Section 1600
Section 1700
Section 1800
Section 1900
Section 2000
Section 2100
Section 2200
Section 2300
Section 2400
• Section 2500
Total all veneer rock to be removed
1000 tons
1000 tons
1000 tons
1000 tons
2000 tons
2000 tons
3000 tons
3400 tons
3000 tons
2000 tons
1600 tons
21000 tons
2) Mine benches along Gold Hill Highwall contact, Sections 1500 through 2600;
Section 1500 5400 tons
Section 1600 3400 tons
Section 1700 3400 tons
Section 1800 2800 tons
Section 1900 3000 tons
Section 2000 5000 tons
Section 2100 3500 tons
Section 2200 5000 tons
Section 2300 4000 tons
Section 2400 4000 tons
Section 2500 3200 tons
Section 2600 3600 tons
Total Highwall tonnage 46500 tons
CJ
