We have reviewed cover
sampling data from the Canadian Strip, Marr Strip, and Bourg Strip to
determine the most successful (in terms of vegetative cover) species which
were seeded at the mines. We also compared seeding and mulching methods. A
short summary of our findings is presented below.
Most Successful Species
A synopsis of the most successful (those representing more than 3% total
cover) species by mine, the age of the reclamation, and the seeding rate
employed is presented below.
Two-Year Old Stands
BOURG STRIP
Species % Cover
Western Wheatgrass (Arriba) 10.8
Thickspike/Streambank Wheatgrass 10.0
Indian Ricegrass 4.0
Big Sagebrush 3:6
423 Centennial Building, 1313 Sherman Street
#PLS/AC
6.0
2.0
3.0
0.5
Denver, Colorado 80203-2273 Tel.
