Community Planning and Environmental Services
Natural Resources Department
City of Fort Collins
February 2, 2006
Tom ;Schreiner
Division of Minerals and Geology
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
Dear:Mr. Schreiner:
Gd'~"'vt-~ w~J
C~ /BCyC/<
RE~P~~!~
'~FEB 0 3 2006
vision of Minerals and Goolopy
As you may recall, you and I were in communication last sum~~er about a portion of the
---- - -home Office Pit in Fort Collins (Mine Land-PermitlTlo~ I4I77$3~-or M77440).'I'he -
present owner of the property, Poudre School District, is attempting to donate the
property to the City of For[ Collins, and I need to determine if there are augmentation or
reclamation obligations on the property relative to the Home Office Pit. The portion in
question (highlighted on the enclosed map) was opened pre-81, but aerials indicate the
amount of exposed water may have increased since that time.
I have been attempting to find out about augmentation or reclamation obligations from
various sources, but continue to hit brick walls. Our attorney has said that we need to get
a copy of the original reclamation plan that was filed when the pit opened, as well as any
modifications that may have been filed since the original (of course, the ideal would be
documentation that this portion was removed from the permit, but I'm not hopeful that
that h;tppened). Is that something you can supply to me? Our attorney suggested that it
maybe something we simply need to come to Denver to search through records to find.
Please let me know how we can get a copy of this document If you prefer to reach me
via email or phone, my contacts are: efelchle~cJfceov.com or (970) 221-6311.
Sincerely,
Edith Felchle
Sr. Environmental Planner
281 North College Avenue • P.O.
