a
~~ outside of Colowyo's permit boundaries, are to be used by Texaco to
trap any remaining oil, and will be removed by Texaco by the fall
of 1992.
December 12 through 14 - Texaco is washing and burning oil and
oil soaked vegetation from upper Wilson Creek.
December 15 through 23 - Texaco finished clean up operations
on Wilson Creek and shifted their efforts to Colowyo's Gossard
Diversion. No further washing will occur - remaining oil and oil
stained vegetation is beging burned off of the diversion. After
burning, a backhoe is reshaping and contouring the diversion.
December 24 - Texaco suspended clean up operations for the
winter. Colowyo's diversion appears to be in good shape and fully
functional.
Texaco's remediation efforts this spring and summer will be an
ongoing process of monitoring, cleaning as necessary, reclamation,
and reseeding of disturbed areas. All told, with weather
conditions at this time of year, Texaco has done a good job of
clean up and appears to be acting in good faith.
If any questions arise, please feel free to contact myself or
Ken Dutt, Jim Dschaak, or Lee Howe of Texaco at (303) 824-6452.
Sincerely,
~/u~/ ~ /~
Juan Garcia
Hydrologist/Environmental
Engineer
JG/gf
cc: R.
