Mr. Steve Ellis
November 1, 1984
Page 2
claim group also includes the Amikay, JoAnne, and Yacolo un-
patented lode mining claims.
Access to our properties is by way of a private road with
direct frontage on County Road No. 52. This private access
road has beQn in existence since the 1870's, and has been in
continuous use by the present owners, or their representatives
and employees, since 1958, From its junction with County Road
No. 52, which is on the Wynona lode claim, this access road
passes over the Hazel A., Trumbo, Yacolo, Hercules, White
Cloud, John G., Who Do, Columbus, and Donald R. lode claims to
reach the Who Do mine site. All of these claims have been
owned by the Steen family, in one legal entity or another,
since 1958.
The reactivation of these underground gold-silver telluride
mines, and the construction of our mill, has been planned as a
phased operation based upon the production of 50 tons of ore
per day. Following the construction of our mill, and before
the depletion of the ore reserves at the Cash mine, rehabili-
tation and exploration work will commence at the Who Do and
Bellevue mines. The Hazel A. mine will be reopened to explore
the nearby White Cloud and Wynona mines depending upon the
results of the underground exploration in the Who Do and
Bellevue mines. At the same time, the existing mine dumps on
the above listed claims will be reworked if the price of
precious metals justifies this activity.
The combined operation of all of these mines, and the existing
Cash mine operation, is not erpected to exceed 15,000 tons per
year, or to disturb in excess of 7 acres of land surface. The
proposed mill will be a conventional gravity, concentration,
and flotation mill, that will be used exclusively to process
ore from our properties. The mil'_ will not accept or process
third-party or custom ore.
All of the county, state, and federal departments and agencies
involved in mine permitting and in monitoring mining opera-
tions will be contacted and notified of our plans in the
proper manner and sequence. In order to begin the permitting
process for. these properties, we are now requesting that the
Boulder County Planning Department reply by letter if these
mines and the proposed millsite are located in a Forestry
Zoning District, which recognizes underground mining as a use
by right.
