i• ~~~ EY.HIBIT D - MINING PLAN A. The Logan :dash Oil Shale Mine is a modified in-situ oil shale operation. Standard miizing methods are used to excavate adits and raises for access in the construction of underground rooms. The room sizes are calculated to provide the necessary void space to create a chimney of oil shale when the oil shale above each room is blasted with conventional explosives. A flame front is established at the top of the chimney or retort which causes the oil to flow to the bottom of the retort where it is pumped out to an oil/water separator (heater-treater plant) for preparation for shipping. Lower mi ne portal and bench located in the 3.80 acres SE1/4 of the Nwl/4 and the St4i/4 of the NE1/4 of Sec 35. 4. Research mine bench and dump located in the 5.00 acres NE1/4 of the SE1/4 of Sec 25. 5.' Surface facility buildings and drill pads 3.00 acres located in the SE1/4 of the NE1/4 of Sec 25. 6.~ Two overflow ponds located in the NE1/4 2.00 acres of the NE1/4 of Sec 25. 7.
