i• ~~~ <br />EY.HIBIT D - MINING PLAN <br />A. The Logan :dash Oil Shale Mine is a modified in-situ oil shale <br />operation. Standard miizing methods are used to excavate adits <br />and raises for access in the construction of underground rooms. <br />The room sizes are calculated to provide the necessary void <br />space to create a chimney of oil shale when the oil shale <br />above each room is blasted with conventional explosives. A <br />flame front is established at the top of the chimney or retort <br />which causes the oil to flow to the bottom of the retort where <br />it is pumped out to an oil/water separator (heater-treater <br />plant) for preparation for shipping. <br />Surface disburbances related to these activities include: <br />Area ~ Name and Location Acreage <br />1. A dump site located in the NE1/4 of the 30.00 acres <br /> Nwl/4 and the SE1/4 of the Nwl/9 of Sec <br /> 25 with a capacity of 8.6 million cu bic <br /> yards of new rock. <br />2. Upper mi ne portal and bench located in the 3.00 acres <br /> Nwl/4 of the PdEl/4 and the SE1/4 of the <br /> NE1/4 of Sec 25. <br />3. Lower mi ne portal and bench located in the 3.80 acres <br /> SE1/4 of the Nwl/4 and the St4i/4 of the <br /> NE1/4 of Sec 35. <br />4. Research mine bench and dump located in the 5.00 acres <br /> NE1/4 of the SE1/4 of Sec 25. <br />5.' Surface facility buildings and drill pads 3.00 acres <br /> located in the SE1/4 of the NE1/4 of <br /> Sec 25. <br />6.~ Two overflow ponds located in the NE1/4 2.00 acres <br />of the NE1/4 of Sec 25. <br />7. Area for future expansion of equipment 3.30 acres <br />and parts storage and additional raise bore <br />located in tl~e NE1/4 of NE1/4 of Sec 25. <br />8. Raise bore and ventilation fan site located 3.30 acres <br />in the SE1/4 of the IvEl/4 of Sec 25. <br />9. Power substation located in the NE1/4 of .75 acres <br />the NE1/4 of Sec 25. <br />10.
