September 29, 1994 Bear Coal Company, Inc. (BCC) submitted the
permit application package (PAP) under the
approved Colorado State Program to the
Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology
(DMG) for a permit revision for the Bear
Mine.
October 11, 1994 Colorado DMG determined that the PAP was
administratively complete for public review
and comment.
October 31, 1994 The Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and
Enforcement (OSM) received the PAP.
December 8, 1994 The Bureau of Land Management provided its
findings and recommendations on the approval
of the mining plan.
• January 4, 1995 BCC published in the Delta County
Independent the fourth consecutive weekly
notice that its complete PAP was filed with
Colorado DMG.
January 18, 1995 The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service provided
its final consultation comments on the
mining plan.
January 19, 1995 OSM received BCC's submittal amending the
PAP.
February 8, 1995 Colorado DMG approved the PAP.
February 27, 1995 OSM received Colorado DMG's final Proposed
Decision and Findings of Compliance.
March 13, 1995 The State Historic Preservation Office
provided its comments on the mining plan.
March 1995 OSM's Western Support Center recommended
that the mining plan be approved.
