Long <br /> Division Direcor <br />Somerset, CO 81434 <br />RE: Brush Disposal Alternatives (General Correspondence); West Elk <br />?Sine; Permit No. C-80-007 <br />Dear Ms. Welt; <br />In response to Mountain Coal Company's (MCC) letter of August 25, <br />1994, regarding brush disposal alternatives, the Division would <br />recommend that MCC brush-crush areas to be disturbed, rather than <br />stockpile the brush for later distribution over the seeded topsoil <br />stockpile. The large amount of brush that is removed and replaced <br />over the topsoil may constitute a fire hazard. To this end, the <br />Division would recommend limiting the amount of brush that is <br />redistributed after brush crushing. Perhaps the brush left after <br />brush crushing could be chipped for mulch, as presumably soil would <br />not be mixed with the brush and the remaining brush may be easier <br />to chip. <br />If you have any questions on the Division's recommendations, please <br />call. <br />Si <br />Christine E.
