As you know, the surface of the
Materials Stor;tge Bench (MSB) has been saturated since thawing this Spring. MCC has been
unsuccessful in drying the road base and surface gravel by windrowing the surface layers. MCC
received proposals last week from several contractors to excavate the wet material, replace and
compact dry material ,and surface the MSB by the end of September. Until this work is
completed, fiord grading and shotcreting of drainage ditches in the approved configurations
cannot be com~~leted. Positive drainage will be maintained in the preliminary ditches currently in
place.
MCC has contracted with Westaz Engineers, Inc. to complete the certified as-built drawing for
MB-I by the rriddle of August. Utilizing that drawing, Greystone Development Consultants, Inc.
will prepaze thr; as-built drainage designs for the pond by the end of August. Per MR 109, the
dike was added to pond MB-1 to facilitate the lining of the pond. You may recall from that
revision that there is more than enough capacity in each "cell" of the pond to contain and treat the
required inflows. The revision to be submitted with the as-builts will make the dike a permanent
structure and n;-verify the capacities of both of the pond cells.
MCC appreciates the reminder of the borehole map and completion information required for MR
124. This information had been inadvertently misplaced. MCC is in the process of adding the
locations of thc: boreholes that were completed as piezometers to Map 53. A summary of the
completion infrrrmation will be provided for inclusion in Exhibit 12.
