John felt that the jute mesh would take a long time to
acquire, thus leaving approximately half of the slopes unprotected. We
then discussed the use of a soil tackyfier whic h is mixed with water
and sprayed on the slope. John felt that the tackyfier would be easier
to acquire and would be quicker to apply than the jute mesh. I consulted
with Brian Munson and we checked in the book, "Soil Conservation" and I
then gave John permission to pursue use of a soil tackyfier on the uncovered
half of the slope. 2 warned him against applying the product too heavily.
The slope has all been seeded. Xe understands that cover of some type is
necessary on the slope to protect it from erosion and loss of seed. The
use of the two methods of soil stabilization wi11 provide a good opportunity
for comparison of the success Levels of both products.
cc: John Nelson
SM:ys
