_ . ~ III IIIIIIIIIIIII III ~ <br />~' PfINED LAND WILDLIFE STATEMENT/EVALUATION (Revised) <br />~.."~ <br />for limited impact and select regular mine applications <br />The following information pertaining to wildlife is provided for use by Mined Land <br />Reclamation Board in their consideration of a mining permit for: <br />Blue Pit/Gravel S'~S'Z Section 25, N'-~ N'g Section 36 T7S, R88W <br />Name/Type and Location of Mine (Legal) <br />;dildlife Species list: <br />Mule deer Badger <br />Coyote Rock squirrel <br />Cray fox White tailed jackrabbit <br />Nuttalls cottontail Othex• raptors <br />Kestrel Passerine birds <br />Red-tailed hawk <br />Endangered/critical species/impacted: <br />None <br />Critical habitats/vegetative communities impacted: The existing area is primarily <br />pastureland with a small portion of irrigated hayland. Vegetation is a grass mixture with <br />sage, pinon, juniper and other native shrubs. Some cottonwoods and willows exist along <br />the irrigation ditch. <br />Assessment of impact: This area is critical deer winter range and if reclaimed to the <br />existing vegetative structure should continue to function as deer winter range, provided <br />the mining activity is phased and intensity of mining is reduced during the winter months. <br />Mine Reclamation recommendations (include key species/habitats for which restoration <br />is designed). <br />1. Topsoil should be stockpiled and stabilized to reduce erosion. <br />2. Revegetation should be accomplished immediately following each stage and should <br />consist of native vegetation comparable to pre-mining vegetation. <br />3. Land converted from dryland pasture (deer winter range) to irrigated pa:;ture (55 acx•e <br />will be indemnified from game damage payments by the Division of Wildlife. <br />4. Mining activity should be reduced during the winter months to allow wintering deer <br />to utilize areas not being mined. <br />Prepared gy; Michael R.
