iii iiiiiiiiiiii iii Z
RECEIVtu
August 16, 1997 AUG 19 1997
Dear Mr. Mount,
I am concerned about the extensive mining that is going on at the old Division of Minera~s s ueoiogy
Braley gravel pit near Mtn. View Ln. in Littleton (actually northern
Douglas County). It seems that the new owners are disturbing more than
allowed. We were told in the adjoining community that there would be one
truck per minute for a month. I have timed them and counted six per minute.
At that rate I am afraid there will be serious environmental impact to our
Park (Chatfield) and the surrounding community {Braley Acres). Never before
has that much dirt been removed! Also, Mr. Braley had his mining permit
number where all could see. I know for a fact that forty-six trucks were
cited yesterday for being overloaded or ocher violations by an agency with
scales placed near the truck destination in the Roxborough Development area.
I believe your agency needs to oversee the mining itself to be sure it is
compliant with the law. Also, how are these owners planning to reclaim this
land after strip mining it? Will they get rich quick and leave us with an
ugly scar?
Thank you
A Concerned Citizen
