These concerns are; 1) t.9e adequacy of t::e raptor survey <br />in the permit application, 21 the docsmentation of road Xil1 in G4e vicinity of <br />the mine, and 3) G`~e presence of rrtule deer critical winter range in the •ricinity <br />of the mine. <br />T.~e U.S. Fish and :lildlife Setvice has requested that additional raptor infor- <br />mation be gathered and submitted for the area surrounding c`[e .nine. TXIS SURVEY IS TO 3E CONDUCTED IN <br />CONJUNCTION WITH TTfE U.S. FISH AND WILDLIFE SERV_*CE AND RESULTS <br />MUST BE SUBMITTED TO THE:f AND TO THE REGULATORY AUTHORITY [aITNIN <br />30 DAYS OF COMPLETION OF THE STUDY. <br />Salt Creek Mining Company has verbally committed to conducting a road kill survey <br />for the Munger Canyon Mine area during its operation. This study will commence <br />prior to the mine reaching 149,000 tons per year, which is tentively the first <br />year of resumed production. Details of timing and reporting procedures for the <br />study will be worked out under consultation with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife <br />Service and the Colorado Division of Wildlife. The Division has requested that <br />Salt Creek Mining Company commit to this agreement in writing. <br />Concen also arose regarding the mule deer critical winter range surrounding <br />the nine sits. Development at the .nine has been limited and future development, <br />as~ authorized by this ?emit, will be minimal. Salt Creek Mining Company is <br />advised a~at i° the wildlife monitoring ?rogram shows that the operation is <br />adversely affect'nq wildlife use of t':e area, or i_` Salt Creak .~fininq Company <br />?roposes any additional disturbance other than that which Zs approved for this <br />permit, considerat_'on will have to be given to init:atine a ?togram for habitat <br />enhancement or manipulation.
