-lo-
Alluvial Valley Floors
The farm road on the East Salt Creek alluvial valley
slightly for use as a haul road during the original
to the area due to the road widening were minor.
Soils

fl oor was improved
permit term. The impacts
No topsoil was salvaged prior to the disturbance which presently exists at the
mine. It is projected that approximately 6 acre-feet of topsoil can be
stripped from previously undisturbed areas which will be disturbed under the
proposed permit. This volume will be sufficient to replace topsoil over 12 to
18 acres of disturbance to a depth ranging from 4 to 6 inches. This will
adequately topsoil most of the proposed 35 acres disturbance. A portion of
the remaining disturbed area will be retained as a ranch road which existed
prior to the mine. Sail analyses from the remainder of the previously
disturbed lands indicate material suitable for reclamation to a depth of 4 to
7 inches.
No topsoil was salvaged at the Loma loadout site. This area is leased to SCMC
by the D&RGW railroad. This facility previously served as a sugar beet
loadout area and is zoned industrial. The land use upon the cessation of its
use as a coal loadout will be industrial. The site will be cleared of all
coal materials and of all structures which the present owner wishes removed.
The material removed from the loadout site will be backfilled in the mine
portal area.
No significant impacts on the soil resource are anticipated.
Vegetation
The CMLRD Reviewed the Munger Canyon Mine vegetation baseline data and
revegetation plan and found it adequate with the exception of six points on
which the State made stipulations for the permit issuance (see Appendix A).
The conditions should insure that the mine site is successfully reclaimed and
that no significant adverse environmental impacts will occur.
Fish and Wildlife
Most of the disturbance related to the mine has already occurred. The planned
expansion of the disturbance will further impact a limited area. '~Jildlife and
habitat in Munger Canyon has already been affected to nearly the maximum
extent for the life of the mine.
