Plotswillbeplaccdtothetightsideofineter-ntarksB,lS,and32. The vegetation
will be clipped by life forth and the single species alfalfa (Me~ticago saliva). The life form
categories include perennial grass, annual grass, perennial forb, and undesirable perennial forb.
Clipped vegetation will be sepazated and weighed to the nearest 0.1 gram with the corresponding
'w+et" weight recorded. The clipped vegetation will be oven dried and re-weighed as a field "dry"
weight. The dry weights will be converted to pounds per acre for each sampled urea. The three
production plots clipped along each transect will be averaged into a production value per transect
before being evaluated for success comparison and statistical evaluation purposes. Productivity on
the two reclaimed areas will be considered successful i f the sample mean is at least 90 percent of the
productivitysatnplemeanmeasuredonlhePastureRefercnccArea. The Snedecor-Cochran sample
adequacy formula (Equation 2) will be utilized to determine that an adequate number of samples
are collected.
Pont Mining Succeaa Demonatratlon
Post mining demonstration of revegetation success for vegetative cover and herbaceous production
within the reclaimed azeas will be determined through use of the Otre-Sample T-Test (Equatioe 3).
This statistical test is used only when the reclaimed area sample mean is less than 90 percent of the
reference area mean value.
