CYCCproposes <br />to conduct vegetation sampling in June of 2000, year Hint vfthc bond liability period, at the Eckman <br />Park/Mine 1 area, PermitNumber C-81-071. Sampling will be conducted on two separate reclaimed <br />land areas, the Eckman Park and Mine 1 azeas, and ttte Pasture Reference Area, which corresponds <br />to each reclaimed land area. Vegetative cover, herbaceous production, and species diversity will be <br />evaluated on all sampled areas. <br />CYCC's property is a surface coal mine located in Routt County off Routt County Road 27, <br />approximately 20 miles southwest of Steamboat Springs. The Eckman Pazk sampling area is in <br />Section 26, Township 5 North, Range 87 West, Section 31, Township S Nvrth, Range 86 West, <br />Section 13, Township 4 North, Range 87 West, and Sectivns 7, B, 9, 1G, 17, 18, and 19, Township <br />4 North, Range 86 West, The Mine l sampling azea is in Sections 28, 29, 31, 32, 33, and 34, <br />Township 5 North, Range 86 West, and Sections 7, 8, and 9, Township 4 North, Range 86 West. <br />Methods to measure vegetative ground cover, herbaceous producliort, and species diversity are <br />discussed in the following sections, and are approved in the Permit Document. <br />Random Semple [.ocations <br />Vegetativecoverandherbaceousproductionwill be santpledusing SO-meterpoint-intercept transacts <br />that are randomly located and oriented. Semple locations for the 50-meter point-itttcrcept lransects <br />in the reclaimed areas were generated using a grid system overlain on maps of the reclaimed areas. <br />Random numbers were generated utilizing the Corcl Qualtro Pro Version 8 random number <br />generator. The resultant random numbers table deterntined the coordinates for transact origin and <br />compass hearing. Sampling in the Pasture Reference Area will proceed by implementing a stratified <br />random sample design. A measuring tape will he placed along the length-wise edgo o f the reference <br />area. The 50-meter point-intercept lransects will be run perpendiculaz to the baseline tape with <br />randomly selec[ed points of origin along that baseline tape.
