1
' In some instances, seed mixtures may need to be modified as a result of limited species
availability, poor seed quality, or site differences. These modifications will be made
' based on site-specific conditions and requirements. Modifications will only be
undertaken with the concurrence of the BLM or other landowner.
With the exception of wetlands, all disturbed lands will be reseeded. Revegetation of
all disturbed wetland areas will rely on natural recolonization from reapplied topsoil
and from adjacent areas. Seed and vegetative propagules will naturally be present in
t the salvaged topsoil and will aid in this process.
2.5.3 Seeding Methods
' Either drill or broadcast seeding will be used for seed application, depending on site-
specific conditions. Drill seeding will be employed on level to gently sloping areas
' where coarse fragment content allows drilling operations. Seeding depth will reflect
requirements of the specific seed mixtures. A rangeland drill or comparable equipment
designed for fluffy seed will be used, as appropriate.
' The seed will be drilled in rows up to a maximum of 10 inches apart and at a depth of
no less than one-half inch deep and no more than 1 inch deep. The seeder will be
followed with a drag, packer, or roller to ensure uniform coverage of the seed and
' adequate compaction. Drilling will be done on the contour where possible, not up and
down the slope. A hand seeder may be used in areas that cannot be seeded by drilling;
these areas will be hand raked to ensure soil coverage.
Broadcast seeding will be employed on steep and /or rocky areas where drill seeding is
not practical. Seed will be broadcast using manually operated cyclone-type bucket
' spreaders, mechanical seed spreaders, blowers, or hydroseeders. Seed will be mixed
frequently in spreader hoppers to minimize settling. Where possible, broadcast areas
will be chained, harrowed, or cultipacked to cover the seed. Sites that are small or
' difficult to access will be hand raked to cover the seed.
Seeding may be repeated in two growing seasons if satisfactory cover is not established
' as determined by BLM or other landowners.
2.6 Erosion Control
' American Soda will identify existing eroded areas during the initial ROW centerline
survey. With the approval of BLM or other landowner, American Soda will correct
erosion problems on the existing ROW after backfilling the pipeline and during the
subsequent reclamation process.
' Erosion control methods will be utilized as needed for stabilization of steep slopes and
erodible soils. Areas of special concern include steep slopes at the following locations:
Davis Point; the northern end of Barnes Ridge; immediately south of the second
' Piceance Creek crossing; and at the upper end of Hatch Gulch.

Pipeline Hedamaeon Pun
YaNcee GWch Sodium M1Lrcr+LS PmjM
' Amerian SOda, L.L.P.
