E~A.,,6~ ~~(; •PEABODY COAL COMPAP• III III IIIIIIIIIIIII ~ ~~
COMPANY MEMORANDUM
F.cCEIVED
TO: pete Evans DATE: ,7une ~~f,Rfl~8~1~~'?~
~~
AHNEU Ln~iD RECLAr4ATION-COAL
CGLO. DkP I. OF NATURAL RESOURCES
FROM: Brad Brown
Seneca Coals, Ltd.
This is to confirm our phone conversation on Thursday, June 25th concerning
the coal shot that was shot before the schedule posted For Seneca.
On that morning our shotfire was instructed to load the coal in the 650 pit.
Z checked the shooter at 8:00 a.m. and had noticed that the temporary haul road
that runs thru the pit was going to come close to the shot. The State Iaw requires
a 25 foot distance be maintained between roads and loaded holes; although I'm sure
when the law was written they had public roads in mind not temporary pit roads.
The road in the pit was approximately 15 feet from the loaded holes. The Shot-
fire thought we were going to shoot before the trucks came into the pit; but this
was not the case. Trucks were sent into the pit and the Safety Committee man for
our truck drivers commented that the loaded holes were too close to the road. We
told the truck drivers to come on thru and we would shoot as soon as they left the
pit.
At that time, I called you.
I am enclsoing a copy of the shot sketch and report.
