Because of the less than one week notice I have had of <br />the hearing on the violations associated with Mr Tatman and Mr. <br />Steen's operation, I will be unable to rearrange my travel plans <br />to testify at the hearing. <br />At this point I am requesting that the Board revoke Gold <br />Hill Mining's permit until the parties can sort out their <br />internal problems and assure permit compliance. <br />To give some background, here is an excerpt of my letter of <br />November 8, 1991: <br />I am requesting that your agency <br />investigate some water discharges in the <br />vicinity of the Gold Hill Mining Company's <br />Cash Mine and Mill. The operation lies in <br />Boulder County near the towns of Gold Hill <br />and Summerville. I live 1 - 2 miles <br />downstream of the mine and mill in the town <br />of Summerville. <br />I and several of my neighbors have <br />observed unusually high levels of water in <br />the creek which lies below and is directly <br />fed by the drainage of the Cash operation. <br />This creek is seasonal and is usually dry. <br />Specifically on or about July 1st and October <br />25 there was unusually high levels of water <br />in the creek. The levels were high enough <br />that my neighbors were concerned that if the <br />water level continued to increase, the creek <br />might overflow its banks. A simple break in <br />a pumping line would probably not account for <br />that quantity of water. <br />Generally, there has been water in the <br />
