~ III Illillllllllllll !
999
MEMO TO FILE
Date: 6/20/01 2:22:30 PM
Specialist: Allen Sorenson Signed: ~~%I/-
SubjecdOperator/Operation/File No. Permit Boundary. Barnard Ouanv,
Barnard Quarries, Permit No. M-1996-079
Type of Interaction: Meeting Phone Other
Person(s) contacted and affiliation: Chester Barnard, Barnard Quarries, 303/823-6977,
Don Johnson, resident below quarry, 303/823-6358
Summary and Resolution of Interaction: Mr. Johnson called to notify the Division [hat Bamard Quarry
operations were occurring on the ridgeline. During year 2000, Barnard Quarries received a Notice of Violation
for casting waste rock rubble over [he ridge and into an area outside the permit boundary. The corrective
action required installation of a fence and signage to prevent activities by freelance quarrymen outside [he
boundary. As a result of Mr. Johnson's complaint this date, the Division contacted Mr. Barnard's voice mail
and directed him to look into the situation and assure that activities are within boundaries. Mr. Barnard was
further directed to report back to the Division. The Division intends to view the ridge from below at random
times in the future; if rubble casting is observed, i[ may be considered a violation ro the permit. Mr. Johnson
was notified of the steps taken by the Division; he stated [hat he would advise [he Division if [he ridgeline
quarrying continues.
cc: Carl Mount, DMG (vin e(ecrronrc mail)
c:\wmdows\personal\t+arnard quarty MTF.doc
