1
Appendix C
Well Search Data
A well record seazch was conducted of the Project Area (Piceance Site, the pipeline condor,
' and Parachute Site) through the Water Well Division of the Colorado Department of Natural
Resources State Engineer's office. A summary of the well seazch for the three azeas is
presented in Table C-1. Figures C-la through C-lh aze a location map for the wells. The
well summary includes the township, range and section of each well, the owner of the well,
the well use, and, if available, the geologic aquifer, well yield, well depth, and water level.
' Well use included the following categories: municipal, domestic, crop irrigation, livestock,
industrial, commercial, and monitoring wells. In addition, wells were also classified as
"other" if the use of the well was unknown or unavailable to the State Engineer's Office. The
purpose for conducting the well seazch was to identify types of groundwater use in the
project azea and to geographically locate these uses. It should be noted that the well list
' provided by the Colorado State Engineer's office may contain the following:
ll
ill
h
i
d b
d
d
• we
at were perm
ut never
r
s t
tte
e
• wells drilled but later plugged and abandoned
"
"
• wells with uses listed as
other
(typically listed when well use information was not
supplied by the well owner)
It was beyond the scope of this study to field verify existence of the wells listed on the State
Engineer's well database. Furthermore, it is known that American Soda has only installed 12
wells while the well database lists 32, suggesting a possible duplication in the state records or
inclusion of permitted wells that have not been drilled.

~~
L,
L~

C-1
