' I am writing to make an official request for information concerning
a particular company's mining and oil operations in Colorado. Please
refer this to whoever handles such requests so that this can be processed
as quickly as possible.
I'm seeking information about the compliance record of the W.R. Grace
Company and several of its subsidiaries operating in Colorado. I want to
gather records of: the number of citations given to the companies listed
below from 1975 to the present, the dollar amount in fees of fines
associated with those citations and the reasons for the citations given.
Please apply this to W.R. Grace's Mining Division located in Denver, Co.
and the following companies under that, including: Axial Basin Ranch
of Denver (A 50/50 partnership with Hanna Mining Company) the Colowyo
Coal Company of Meeker(also a 50/50 partnership with Hanna) the Hayden
Gulch West Coal Company(50/50 with Hanna) the H-G Coal Company (50/50
with Hanna).
In addition, please send me any copies of records of instances from 1975
to the present in which Grace Bomac Drilling or any other subsidiary oil
company of W.R. Grace in Colorado have violated the terms of their leases
or failed to comply with provisions of any of their plans of operations.
Please also include records of any corrective actions that have resulted
from any such noncompliance.
I realize this is a rather comprehensive request. And I realize that you
probably have questions or potential difficulties in getting what I want
at a minimum expense. Please contact me at the number or address listed
below to clarify any questions.
I am requesting the information as part of a research project I am doing
on W.R. Grace for a report that will eventually be made public.
