The following maps are included:
1. Figure 1. "GENERAL LOCATION MAP", 1" = 300'
2. Figure 2. "SUNDAY MINE, ROADS AND VENT HOLES", 1" = 200'
3. Figure 3. "SUNDAY MINE", 1" = 100'
4. Figure 4. "GMG MINE", 1"= 100'
On September 19, 2002, the Operator submitted PRELIMINARY maps to the Division. This
was done solely to get feedback from the Division on the form and adequacy of the information
being presented on the new maps. Furthermore, a number of site maintenance and remediation
tasks have been undertaken in the past few months, and hence features on some of the
preliminary maps are not represented correctly. Therefore, the Operator requests that the
PRELIMINARY maps be returned to the Operator upon the Division's receipt of the maps
submitted herewith. Not only do the preliminary maps not have final and complete information,
but we also want to be careful to avoid confusion between various generations of maps (as has
frequently occurred in the past).
The Sunday Mine 112 Permit includes the Sunday Mine proper, the vent holes and related access
roads on the ridge to the south of the Sunday Mine site, and the GMG Mine site (as this was used
by the current Operator as a ventilation opening). Detail information has been collected during
new field surveys to prepare accurate and complete maps and to report on cunent site conditions.
hi the process of surveying the existing field conditions, a number of discrepancies and/or permit
omissions have been encountered. These discrepancies and omissions occurred under former
operators, and in fact in a number of cases, the Division was apparently not aware of the
existence of a number of mine-related features. As a consequence, historical records that detail
the size of various mine features are not completely accurate, and the related past calculations of
