The current Permit will expire on November 5, 2042. As the public commerrt period will extend <br />beyond that date, Colowyo will be allowed to continue operations until issuance of the new <br />Permit under Rule 2.08.5(3)(f) Right of Successive Renewal. <br />3.2 Description of the Environment <br />3.2.1 Maps <br />United States Geological Survey (iJSGS) Topographic Map 7.5 Minute Quadrangles Axial and <br />Ninemile Gap, Colorado, cover the azea of the permit. Map 10 (an extract of composite 7.5 <br />minute maps), Regional Hydrology, last revised January 2001 of the PAP shows the permit azea, <br />and delineates major drainages, divides and.basins. <br />3.2.2 General, Disturbed and Affected Area <br />The Mime is located approximately Z8 miles southwest of Craig, Colorado, sear State Highway <br />I3. The great majority of the permit area and current operations (including the mine pits, the <br />administrative, shops, wazehouses, general offices and a rail loadout facility) aze located in <br />Moffat County. A relatively small part of the permit azea is located in Rio Blanco County. <br />Although there has been surface disturbance withinRio Blanco County, there has been no coal <br />mined from Rio.Blanco County andnone is approved in this permit rnewal_ . <br />Colowyo owns approximately 85 % of the surface acreage of the proposed permit area. An <br />additional 7% is federal land managed by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), and an <br />additional 9°/a is state (Colorado-} lam The mine operation, as.proposed, ufi}i eoasist of several <br />pits operating within 7,531 (male or less} permitted acres of which 3,979 (more or less} acres <br />maybe disturbed by mining. The permitted boundaries and pemutted disturbance of the permit <br />have not changed. However, acreages reported have changed as a result of more accurate <br />surveying and mapping techniques available, and correction of previous errors.
