Drilling to drill the necessary monitoring wells by Febxvary 20, 1993. <br />Then, on March 15, 1993, the Division received a request for a meeting on <br />March 31, 1993 to discuss these same issues. At this meeting, Paul Baker brought an <br />estimate from Beeman Bros. Drilling for the drilling and completion of three wells. <br />Mr. Baker stated that these wells were to be drilled immediately and that the <br />Division would receive results from the core drilling and water samples in <br />early May. <br />To date, Beeman Bros. Drilling has sot received word from Pennsylvania West to <br />proceed with any drilling, nor has the 7,a Plata County Land Use and Permitting <br />Section received any further information concerning Pennsylvania West mining at the <br />Coal Gulch Mine site. <br />Additionally, the Durango office of Pennsylvania West Coal Company has apparently <br />closed down without a forwarding address or phone number at which anyone can be <br />reached. <br />With the exception of the base-line hydrology information and the permit to mine <br />coal from La Plata County, the coal mining permit submitted by Greg Lewicki and <br />Associates appeared to be a well designed mine plan. However, due to above <br />referenced items, and lack of any positive commitment by Pennsylvania West the <br />Division must complete reclamation of this site this fall: <br />Since Pennsylvania Weat has some mining machinery at the Coal Gulch site, this <br />letter will also serve notice that the machinery must be removed prior to <br />August 31, 1993 or the machinery will be removed by the State. <br />Additionally, the Division has received information concerning coal bins purchased <br />by Pennsylvania West that requires action on your part.
