arrangements between the Colorado Department of Health and the Environment, the US <br />Forest Service, the Bonanza Group, Saguache County and the town of Bonanza. Primary <br />criteria for selected actions were protection of human health and the environment, and <br />achievement of the long-term water quality goals. <br />With the reclamation activities that were implemented between 1994 through 2003, <br />Kerber Creek has progressed from supporting virtually no aquatic life over a 1-mile long <br />stretch to achievement of water quality goals. Fish aze thriving in Kerber Creek and its <br />tributaries. The work by ASARCO has facilitated the ability of the USFS and CDPHE to <br />continue addressing other orphan mine sites in the district. Since the primary <br />contaminant source azeas have been addressed, continued improvement in the quality of <br />Kerber Creek and its tributaries is occurring through natural recovery.
