2-96
2.4.5.2 ANTICIPATED SOIL EROSION AND CONTROL MEASURES
Disturbed soil areas within facilities areas will be revegetated
for aesthetics and erosion control upon completion of construction,
species utilized for vegetative cover will correspond to species
proposed in the reclamation plan for the specific land use type
disturbed and reclaimed. In addition, flexible plastic down drains
will be installed on the in-place culverts. At culvert 1 (closest
to the mine) and culvert 2 the down drains will be placed in the
upper one-half of the affected slopes. At culverts 3,4 and 5 down
drains will extend from the culvert to the natural ephemeral
drainage. Rip-rap energy dissipators will be provided at the
outfall of each down drain.
When rills and gullies deeper than 9 inches fc::m in areas that have
no vegetative cover, necessary measures will '-~~ t.,:ken to stabilize
the site, and the area seeded or reseeded as .3i~pr~~priate, according
to Section 717.10 of the Surface Mining ReguLa~=io~~s.
Appropriate action will be taken on erosional i'.ea•:=ures of less
magnitude if it is determined by the operato,: ~-ha'c the situation
may result in excessive sedimentation loads >-~ the recieving
channel.
Topsoil stockpiles will be top graded to pre r~:it concentrated water
flow, and will be benched as required along ::ze slope if the
volume of topsoil warrants'a larger stockpile i:han is presently
anticipated.
Topsoil stockpiles will be seeded to a mixtur~a of wheatgrasses
to minimize erosion.
6/4/83
