Perform residual strength
tests using the direct shear test device on samples from I-7 and W-IC.
Perform moisture content, grain size and Atterberg limit tests on all
triaaial and duect shear test samples. Consider performing a swell test
using the odometer on samples for I-7 and I-6 (upper failure plane) to
determine the eapansive pressure of the soil and its potential to cause
`uplift".
(d) Evaluate the potential for water recharge from water "trapped" within
the substation retaining walls and upslope of the portal sheetpile wall
and determine methods to dewater such as horizontal drains.
(e) Evaluate the need for and the methods to drain water being "dammed"
by the 511 just upslope from the freshwater pond.
The above-mentioned action items will be used to stabilize and assess other
stabilization methods along cross section A-A. Based upon the assessment of the
stabilization methods at cross section A-A, the entire landslide stabilization
program will be determined. The approach is to clearly understand the mechanics
of the landslide at arose section A-A and apply this knowledge to the stabilization
of the remaining landslide area.
Schedule
1.
