3 •
RESULTS
No cultural resources were recorded. The extensive surface
deposit of cobbles within the parcel was closely eximined for evidence
of cultural patterning and/or lithic source procurement, with negative
results. This material generally exhibited coarse texture and dull
edges along natural fractures, indicating inferior flaking quality.
The absence of cultural resources of the types for which potential
in this area had been anticipated is generally attributable to the
vagaries of resource distribution, use, and preservation. The potential
for undiscovered subsurface cultural material is rnnsidered relatively
low because of the stony soil.
RDCaM~[~SIDATIO[~S
Since it appears that no cultural resources caill be affected,
cultural resource clearance for the proposed Seifert Enterprises
Schoolfield Pit is rernmmended, subject to Colorado SHPO concurrence.
REFERENCES CITID
Eighmy, Jeffrey L.
1984 Colorado Plains Prehistoric Context.
