=~f • •
2-
I request a review by your Division of past and current
mining operations and of the subsidence which is occurring
because of these operations. One year ago I was told by the
GEX mine superintendent that their mining would be limited to
Sections 34 and 35, T 10 S, R 98 W, 6th, P.M, I now find
that they have mined under substantial acreage in adjoining
Sections 1 and 2. I have continually requested the results
of their subsidence survey reports. Although I have been
promised these reports, none have ever been made available
to me,
Also I can not understand why the surface owner is not
notified personally when a permit to mine under his land is
being considered by your department,
The disposal of the large quantities of waste material
generated by the method of mining is another problem that
should be looked at, The environmental damage being done now
is considerable but the potential of flash flooding of the new
waste piles is really alarming.
I would very much appreciate any material which would
help me stay informed of permits, applications, etc, If the
information is too volumous or if you think it would be of
help I could plan a trip to Denver to visit with you during
the last week of August,
Sincerely,
\`~ °'~s~ CG C QCs a~.~
Paul B.
