1,4-ll Kecent llevelopments <br />• <br />ra~c ~ va Y <br />classification of carcinogenicity, Group A compounds are "known cazcinogens," Group B compounds <br />are "probable carcinogens" and Group C compounds are "possrble carcinogens." A Group D <br />classification indicates that evidence of cazcinogenicity is inadequate and cannot be interpreted as <br />showing either the presence or absence of carcinogenic effect. A copy of either the executive summary <br />or the entve report (55 pages) can be obtained from this task force through our 800 number or on the <br />2,4-D Publication Review Site <br />The U.S. Department of Agriculture's National Agricultural Pesticide Impact Assessment Program's <br />(NAPIAP) multi-year benefits analysis of 2,4-D was published in November, 1996. Copies of the 240 <br />page report can be made available by contacting the Task Force on the 800 number or viewed on the <br />2.4-D Publication Review Site. The report shows that the total benefits received from 2,4-D from <br />lower weed control costs to farmers and others, and lower food prices to consumers are $1,683 million <br />annually. <br />The United States Environmental Protection Agency has issued a new 2,4-D toxicology profile. See <br />"Recent Published Reports or Studies on 2,4-D" later in this web site. Copies of the 2,4-D toxicology <br />profile are also available through the Task Force, or can be viewed on the 2,4-D Publication Review <br />Site. <br />The last of the scheduled 270 reseazch studies required by the U.S. Environmental Protection <br />Agency (EPA) for the re-registration of 2,4-D have been submitted to the Agency, bringing this phase <br />of the eight-year $25 million data development program to a close.
