A hydrologic monitoring program was implemented at the <br />I Somerset Mine located near Somerset, Colorado in January 1986. <br />This report includes data collected during the month of June <br />1987. Stations which were monitored include wells B-6 and H-10 <br />and the Hubbard Creek surface station H-1. The following data <br />was collected onsite: <br />I H-1 H-10 B-6 <br />I Flow/water level 11.25 cfs 347.67 ft. No <br />Temperature 14.0 c 16.5 c water <br />Conductivity 375 4900 <br />' pH 7_2 7.8 <br />eH -125 <br />Ground water data was consistent with that measured in May. <br />At well H-10, water levels were the same over the two month <br />period. The water was high in TDS, conductivity and alkalinity <br />and is a strong sodium/bicarbonate type. Metal concentrations <br />were low with exception of iron. Nitrate and ammonia concentra- <br />tions were also high. Well B-6 was dry during both monthly <br />samplings. <br />Chemical constituents of the surface water from station Fi-1 <br />I was influenced by runoff from a thundershower. As a result, <br />suspended solids and associated parameters were elevated. The <br />water is a calcium/bicarbonate type with low concentrations of <br />I nutrients and metals (except iron). Flow decreased significantly <br />from May (192 cfs) to June (11.25 cfs). <br />I A pond inspection was conducted on July 2, 1987 for the <br />second quarter. No erosional or structural problems were <br />observed. No pond discharges were recorded during the quarter. <br />1 <br />
