Long
Division Dneclo~
We received your request for apre-blast survey and forwarded it to Seneca Coal Company.
They should contact yott soon to arrange for the survey. The survey should address
buildings, your spring, and the cliff you referred to, if there is any potential that rocks
dislodged from the cliff could impact your property. A copy of the results of that survey will
be sent to you by the company. If you disagree with those results, you should contact the
Division and/or Seneca Coal Company.
The Division would like to follow up on the other two items you mentioned in your letter,
but we need some clarification. In regard to the cliff rocks, we would like to know the
location of the fallen rocks you referred to. We also need to know whether the blasting you
referred to was at the Seneca II West Mine which is west of your house, or the Seneca I[
Mine which is east of your house. Any additional information, such as the time that the
rocks were dislodged might be helpful, as well.
In regard to your spring, Seneca Coal Company will probably do some analysis of the spring
water as part of their pre-blast survey. Meanwhile, if you have any information about the
quality and/or quantity of water the spring produces, it would he helpful if you provided that
information to the Division.
