~Fra'~: Jerry Orback To: Susan Collins • Date: 2125!98 Time: 21:13:d0 Page 2 012
•
Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology
Page 2
February 25, 1998
that, "Prehistoric and Historic Resources shall not be marred, disturbed, removed or
altered on state land as provided by law" just below the commissions signatures.
AddRionally, Ms. Collins' remarks stating that there are no significant cultural resources in
the proposed mining area is clearly a false and mis-leading statement. No one has ever
conducted a professional Class III Pedestrian archeological survey in the effected area, so, I
find it very hard to believe that these statements are true. MBC was given 5 working days
to conduct field work, to perform literature research, to wrrte an
archeological/environmental reconnaissance report, and to deliver our results to this
commission. We stand by our report on this subject and any negative comments by your
administrative staff or Susan Collins to the validity of its contents is pure fiction.
The very suggestion that the fate of cultural resources on state controlled lands
should be the responsibility of development interests is a ludicrous comment in itself, but
is particularly navie considering the slanderous attacks leveled at our staffs professional
qualifications during this public meeting. Is your position on this matter so weak that your
organization has to resort to under-handed dirty tricks to gain favorable decisions or is
your administrative staff so inept that it is unnecessarily exposing the State of Colorado to
criminal, and or, civil legal action.
Again, please provide our company with access to any transcript type material your
office has concerning the comments expressed at this public meeting and the other
materials we requested as soon as possible.
Sincerely,
Dr. Charles Cambridge/President/Principal Investigator
cc: Susan Collins
Doug & Kelly Park, et al.
^
